Four As for your foray into wine. Love this! There's a really cool wine bar in London that also has countless bottles on tap that you can try in any quantity (from a tiny sip to an overflowing glass). Such a great concept to allow people to taste the breadth of what wine has to offer.

Do you live in London? Next time I'm over I want to organise a Substack wine writers meetup - maybe we can go to that bar!

Ahh that would be nice, I live in Austin, and Zach lives in New Jersey. We love traveling to Europe though so maybe the timing will work out next time we're out there!

Ah I don’t know why I keep thinking everyone lives in the UK! Well, you never know - if I’m in Austin I’ll keep you posted…

I love the idea of the theme nights (of course 😂).

Love the four A’s. I agree completely- working at a wine retail shop my personal stories about a wine or the producer make the sale- as do asking them about theirs!

Great article! Really interesting to listen to! Storytelling is important, but not long one:) I can imagine you're a great storyteller in the wine shop. It was also fun for me to think about the topic on my own. I think I'm starting to understand a unique aspect of Substack—where multiple people engage in conversations around the same topic. It’s so much fun!

Thanks Kazumi! And yes, I agree, Substack is a great space for an in-depth conversation. I find people on here are much more nuanced and open to discussion - it feels a lot less divisive/black & white than other media at the moment. Then again, I'm only really talking to wine people so we tend to avoid politics!

Oh my, that image of a pizza - what are those paper thin, white, gelatinous looking discs on it? Is that a Nordic thing?

Truly excellent ideas and organization of said ideas! The four A's are brilliant and should become a staple of every wine professional's headspace. I plan to try a "Mindful Wine" event here in LA soon (it's such a tailor-made-for-LA thing it's not even funny!)

I know, that picture is not good 😂 I was searching my camera roll for pictures of pizza with indeterminate wine - weirdly didn’t have many!

Let me know how you get on with Mindful Wine, LA-style!
