I didn't 😭 I was pretty gutted about that as I finally found one (right near the end of the trip) but I basically ran out of time. Already had a few bottles at the house that I needed to get through before departure, and even I have a limit to how much I can drink 😂
Perfect and yet unfortunate timing of me seeing this - I was just in São Miguel for two days a couple weeks ago! Tried a bunch of Maçanita but especially liked some of the volcanic Syrah blends (can’t remember from who though…)
Wish I had seen this list beforehand! Oh well… guess I’ll just have to go back…
The last time you wrote about the Azores was actually when I first learned about them—and you totally convinced me to try Azorean wines! Just like the Canaries, wines from volcanic islands are so fascinating. I was considering the Canary Islands or Madeira for this summer, but now it looks like I have one more destination to dream about. Thanks for sharing this post! 😊🍷
I also found the Canarian wines super interesting! I didn't do as much research as I did in the Azores but I have a few tips... I'm sure Madeira wines are very interesting too - I went there a few years ago but I only tried the typical fortified wines. If you go, let me know what you discover about the regular wines too!
Thank you for referencing my article! And thanks for this great resource on the islands and their wines.
Did you ever get to taste Cátia Laranjo's wines?

Oh no, what annoying timing! But indeed, an excuse to go back...
